Back in 1968, Paul Schaben filled his VW bus with hardware supplies and visited fairs and agricultural shows while driving from farm to farm, offering exactly what was needed throughout the Midwest.
He soon began to seek out motels that featured a hot tub because he found it was a perfect way to reduce the pain in his hip which he’d injured as a teenage when working on a farm. Paul realized the warm water activated by jets offered real health benefits.
He began to look for a spa that could be delivered and set up in a day. Until he found one, spas had to be assembled bit-by-bit, often taking a month or longer to be completed. He looked for a way to help more people benefit from hot tubs and spas.
In 1983, Paul discovered Hot Spring Portable Spas. He was impressed by how quickly they could be installed and by their quality. He soon began to represent them, all the while wishing everyone could benefit from hot tubs. Paul often said that seeing the smile on the face of the person who bought Hot Spring Portable Spas give him more satisfaction than anything else.
Today, there are well over 22,000 Hot Spring Spa customers in Minnesota and Iowa, making us the premier full service spa company in the Midwest. Paul still owns the company and his family oversees the day-to-day operations. Our goal is to make sure every customer enjoys both our showrooms and the spas and saunas they buy their because we want everyone to feel good.
